INDONESIA TO PLAY IN KUALA LUMPUR

After security concerns forced United to cancel the Indonesian leg of the pre-season tour, Reds chief executive David Gill hinted the scheduled match in Jakarta could be relocated to Kuala Lumpur.

United were due to play an Indonesian Super League XI on Monday 20 July at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium but bombings in Jakarta on Friday morning prompted the club to cancel its trip to the country.

Speaking at a press conference at the team hotel in Malaysia, Gill said: “There are various things we’re looking at. We could bring the Indonesian team here. It’s a possibility and something we’re looking at. We’ll go through all the different possibilities and evaluate which is the most appropriate.

“In all probability [the United tour party will stay here in Kuala Lumpur. But there are lots of things to be done before we sort out the logistics for the rest of the week.”
